LA Pool Guys on Conan!
In 2000 I was but a wee lass and had just graduated college with a theater degree. I was unemployed, surprise, surprise and was shocked to find out that with a theater degree you can’t just walk into any studio and announce yourself as “actor” and begin working. Well, my wise brother was apartment managing at the time while starting up another business and he had a pool in the building. He wasn’t too satisfied with the service and said, “Bro, why don’t you clean the pool. It could be a great business for an actor. Make your own hours, be your own boss. You should think about it.”
Well I did and a few months later after some certification classes and time spent ruining the pool at my brothers building, LA Pool Guys was born. Very shortly after the birth of this company my close friend and college roommate moved into my brothers building with his lovely wife. We decided it made complete sense to share the spoils of LA Pool Guys together by splitting it down the middle. From that moment forward LA Pool Guys really became something.
In 2003 life took a turn, as it so often does, and my wife and I were facing down a decision to possibly move to Chicago for a while to help her family with a business. Bryan graciously offered to buy me out and I had no doubt he would be a great leader and continue the legacy of LA Pool Guys. Has he ever! The company is thriving and was just featured on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien! Take a look:
